- 3. Editing A Sequence
-
- 3.2. Event List Mode
-
- 3.2.1. The Active Parameter
-
- In the event list mode window, you can pick out one parameter as an
- "active-parameter", then edit the active-parameter. The active-parameter may
- be one parameter of an event in the editing sequence, or one of parameters
- pointing the selected time range. The active parameter is displayed with a
- dotted line frame.
- 1. Setting activity by clicking: If you click on a parameter, clicked
- parameter will be activated.
- 2. Setting activity by key stroke: You can move activity with following
- key stroke.
- o The [up-arrow] key moves activity to the parameter above the
- current active-parameter.
- o The [down-arrow] key moves activity to the parameter below the
- current active-parameter.
- o The [right-arrow] key moves activity to the parameter on the right
- of the current active-parameter.
- o The [left-arrow] key moves activity to parameter on the left of
- the current active-parameter.
- o The [return] key moves activity to the next event. If the current
- active-event is selected, this key moves activity to the next
- selected event.
- o The [shift][return] key moves activity to the previous event. If
- the current active event is selected, this key moves activity to
- the previous selected event.
- o The [tab] key moves activity to the next parameter. If the current
- active-parameter is the last parameter of an event, this key
- stroke moves activity to the first parameter of the next event.
- o The [shift][tab] key moves activity to the previous parameter. If
- the current active-parameter is the first parameter of an event,
- this key stroke moves activity to the last parameter of the
- previous event.
- o The [enter] key toggles activity between the event display area
- and the selected time range indicator.
-
-
-
- 3.2.2. Editing Event's Time
-
- 1. Numerical editing: Activate one of event time parameters, and then
- specify the parameter value with the method described later. The
- changed event will be moved to specified time.
- 2. Sequential editing: Drag an event with pressing the [command] key, and
- then release on the point where you want to place the dragging event
- to. While you dragging an event, a horizontal line is displayed where
- the dragging event will be placed to. In case you drag an event to
- earlier, the event time of the dragging event will be set equal to the
- time of the next event of placed point. In case you drag an event to
- later, the event time of the dragging event will be set equal to the
- time of the previous event of placed point.
- By typing [command][up-arrow] or [command][down-arrow] key, the active
- event will be moved step by step to earlier or later. These editing
- method allows you to edit the order of events on same timing.
-
-
-
- 3.2.3. Editing Numeric Parameters
-
- You can modify a numeric parameter by following operations:
-
- * Dragging up/down on the parameter box.
- * Typing [control][up-arrow] or [control][down-arrow] key. This operation
- increments or decrements the parameter.
- * Typing decimal keys ([0] - [9]).
- If you want to specify a negative value, type absolute value and the
- type the [-] key (for example you want to specify the value to -100,
- type [1] [0] [0], then type the [-] key. Don't type the [-] key before
- the value). If you want to cancel typing the [-] key, type the [+] key.
-
-
-
- 3.2.4. Editing Selectable Parameters
-
- You can modify a selectable parameter (event type, control change type, meta
- event type or program change number) by following operations:
-
- * Using a popup menu which appears when you click on the parameter box.
- * Dragging up/down with pressing the [control] key.
- * Typing [control][up-arrow] or [control][down-arrow] key.
- * Parameters which has a prefixed hexadecimal number (control change
- type, meta event type or program change number) can be modified by
- typing hexadecimal keys ([0] - [9], [A] - [F]).
-
- By using a popup menu, you can choose one of pre-defined items, but you
- can specify any value by typing or by dragging with the [control] key.
-
-
-
- 3.2.5. Editing Note Number Parameters
-
- If a note event is in a channel which has no note name list, you can edit a
- note number parameter by following operations:
-
- * Typing [control][up-arrow], [control][down-arrow], [+], [-], or decimal
- keys to specify the octave value.
- Typing [A] - [G], [#] (increasing step in a half note) or [@]
- (decreasing step in a half note, used as a flat) key for note in an
- octave.
- * Dragging up/down (same operation as for a "Numeric Parameter").
-
- In case a note name list is assigned, you can edit a note number parameter
- by following operations (almost same as for a "Selectable Parameter"):
-
- * By typing [control][up-arrow], [control][down-arrow] or hexadecimal
- keys ([0] - [9], [A] - [F]).
- * By dragging with pressing the [control] key
- * By a popup menu which appears by clicking on the parameter box.
- By using a popup menu, you can choose one of pre-defined items, but you
- can specify any value by typing or by dragging with the [control] key.
-
-
-
- 3.2.6. Editing Text Data
-
- To editing text data of a text type meta event, set cursor to the position
- where you want to insert characters by clicking or typing [control]
- [up-arrow], [control][down-arrow], [control][left-arrow] or [control]
- [right-arrow] key, and then, type your text.
-
-
-
- 3.2.7. Editing Hex-Dumped Data
-
- To editing hex-dumped data such as data of system exclusive event, set
- cursor to the position where you want to insert data by clicking or typing
- [control][up-arrow], [control][down-arrow], [control][left-arrow] or
- [control][right-arrow] key, and then, input your data by typing hexadecimal
- keys ([0] - [9], [A] - [F]).
-
-
-
- 3.2.8. Editing Using A Dialog Box
-
- By typing [command][return] or [command][enter] key, a dialog which allows
- you to specify parameters of the active event will appear. This function is
- available if the active event is a system exclusive event or a meta event
- except the Set Tempo meta event type. The dialog content is same as the
- dialog which appears in the graphical mode. For details, refer the section
- "Graphical Mode" in this chapter.
